This past weekend I managed to rope the fox into helping me with gathering all of my ideas and notes and organizing them. What she came up with, is of course, a murder board. Because well, that is in her wheelhouse.
We went to Office Depot and pick up supplies and Hobby Lobby for color string, we are going all the way with this board. Except for murder. No murdering took place.
Turns out that my head holds much more information than I give it credit for. We made timelines, history of the city, road map to the current day in the story which will be the year 2372. The meticulous nature of the Fox will take this rough draft murder board and fine tune it in the near future. Having a visual board to stare at really helped me with glaring plot holes I might have missed without it.
As you can see there is a lot open space. We have yet to add the details, it's all topics, headers, characters, places, and things. I am take my time with Dresco. A rich history and hopefully likable and loathed characters. It's more than coming with characters and a city name. I want to design buildings that could become iconic, design vehicles, clothing style, personal equipment, the list goes on. It isn't as though I didn't understand how difficult creating a universe can be. But I must say, it is much more involved and not having the time to dedicate my full faculties to is, at times, frustrating. I get in the zone for a few minutes, then the world interrupts and most the time I can;t get back to my train of thought and leave it to another day. But isn't that the way the world works?
