Hey There!

The story of us is a many chapters. Many life changing events of happiness, challenges, and some sorrow. But here, you found the story of how we got started crafting and building. It's a sweet story, at least I think it is.

How it Started.

I have always loved to read. Just one of those things I enjoyed doing. When my husband started reading comics again, he showed me a wonderful little place called a comic book store. I was directed to a couple of books that might interest me. Fell in love with them both, Saga and Lock & Key.

We had this ritual every Saturday morning, Coffee & Comics. That’s how we started our weekends. The wonderful smell of fresh new books and the rich aroma of brewed coffee filled the air. AWESOME! I tried to get Husband to read what I was reading because is was really good and I knew he would love it too. I had a similar situation like this with him once before. I tried and tried to get him to watch Supernatural and after some time he gave in and we binged it. Till we caught up and watched the final season with tears inner eyes. In return, he got me to watch Gilmore Girls, which I must admit was pretty good in its own right. Yeah we’re weird.

After seeing an add about a new series on Netflix called Locke & Key, he decided to read up on the books. The show was fun and per usual the books are better. But still, Netflix did a pretty good job. That’s when this whole thing started.

Husband came up with an idea to make a game based on Locke & Key… well a Locke & Key game. He kept telling me all about his ideas and honestly sounded really fun. He wanted to build this gigantic house to play in…. Not actual people to play inside of but little plastic characters (minis as I would later come to know them as) to move around and uncover mysteries of the keys. The game idea took hold of him and didn’t let go. That’s when my crafting journey began.

Husband sat me down in front of Youtube on the TV and showed me this really talented crafter building really awesome looking buildings, and what I now know called terrain. I had to admit, it looked really fun to do and what he was building was crazy cool! Thank you Jeremy @BlackMagicCraft. You are the one that got me started on this. I followed all his tips and watched all his videos to learn his technique. I said I’d give it a try. It looks interesting to do.

Then one day Amazon showed up boxes and supplies, tools, and what-have-yous. Husband when all in on foam supplies, knives, glues, airbrush kits, and on and on. Thank you Husband for supporting me on your ideas. I had no clue how to use what I had but I took to it and have been doing it for over 2 years now. We’ve built a few games and I’d love to show you our stuff.

It's been great chemistry between us, he’s pushing my boundaries of what I think I can do and can’t do. And I am always pleasantly surprised at what cool stuff I have been able to build. Added by Husband’s words of approval, I knew you could do it. Usually followed by Holy moly that looks awesome!

I have to somehow keep him roped in on the current builds because he always has 2 or 3 three more ideas in his head on the next build. So we create.
