The Comic Book Bunker
Child #3 had an old Ikea dresser that the drawers were breaking. Husband took a look at it and immediately told me that we had to replace it... and repurpose it.
He removed one of the drawers and evenly spaced out the remaining drawers. He then super reinforced the drawers and put in ballbearing slides, two each drawer. He went to glass shop and had a custom made black smoke glass for the top.
He said things were about to get heavy in this thing.
The Great Rows

Each drawer was reinforced and dividers were installed to get the books organized. The dividers also worked as a great reinforcing as well. It was great to get 4 rows of books per drawer. But How many books can fit in each row?
Fitting In!

Looks like a short box per row will fit nicely, bagged and boarded. The measured dimensions were carried out to the other four drawers.
With Husband I knew it wouldn't be that simple to leave it at just a plain black kids dresser.
Super Strength

Not wanting to take any risks, Husband doubled up on the strength of each drawer.
Two full extension drawer slides were used on each drawer.
Husband was right, this thing is going to be heavy.
Lights From Above

It goes without saying that Husband would put LEDs in this bunker. Which really is cool to have on.
Working Out The Kinks

Husband wasn't happy about all the pressure that the front book were taking at the top of the drawer. It was making a crease were they touched. He loved that he was able to keep the tops of the book visible but not at the expense of a crease.
The Solution

Acrylic page displays from the local office supply store solved the problem. You'll notice the plain black drawer faces have been dealt with. Modge Podge and some old comic pages willing to sacrifice themselves for the better good, really work well.
Super Storage

The top two drawers served as great storage places. Pencils, bags and boards and whatever what have yous.
The Final Awesome

What can I say, this thing turned out awesome! Very happy how it turned out and love storing some of our comics in it.
