As I began Dresco, I always planned for it to be dark and gritty. Polar opposite of Ascension in almost every way. As I write and rewrite the history of this city and it's characters, it is quickly going from PG-13 to R rating. Subject matter is dark and hard to vision being real. The sad reality, it is real and happens everyday in our lives. Much of the first draft of the script has changed to support the overall vision of this universe better. It is easy to see several spinoff story from these characters. I only hope my writing improves enough to validate my claims. From a graphic novels perspective, I tend to be very wordy. I am trying to allow the illustrations to do more of the talking than my scripts. Good luck to me.
The more I write and follow the natrual progression of this story the more it begins to balance on the controversial fence. I believe that it is a controversial in subject matter or even headed that way, but I have found that there is nothing that is for certain when I write. I just follow my brain wherever it leads me. But isnt that it's job? Expect dark and dry humor about "sensitive" subjects. What does that even mean these days? Probably one of the most profound and just quotes ever said, will be spoken by Bruiser... often, "Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke."
And also, "Size matters." Because he's 6'8' and 300 plus pounds of not fat.
You have been warned... of nothing.
