WFXY Exclusive Interview

The Mary Summers Story

...my escape was a miracle and I believe from the bottom of my heart that miracle was my daddy. Before he passed away he told me that one day I might be in a situation where my life would hang in the balance. He told me never panic and always be aware of my surroundings, things like smells or sounds in the air. Always be aware of my surroundings he said.

After a day or so I lost track of time. I was inside and never saw the sun. It was hard to know how long I was locked up in that box. It was like time no longer existed.

After while, we would be taken out into the fields at night. He would have us lay on the ground, tie our hands to fence posts and our legs to these stakes in the ground. We were blindfolded but I was able to see a little and definitely could hear the others crying or screaming for help. He would say, no need to scream, no one would hear us. He would preform a sermon calling himself the light and that only the chosen and the righteous would be chosen. The rest of us would need to atone and repent until we were cleansed and accepted by the light.

We would lay there all night and in the morning, he would take us back to the cabin and he would preform a baptism on us. Thing is, some of us didn’t come back from the outside.

There was a giant storm one night and I swear I heard my Dady’s voice tell me to volunteer to go into the fields with the others as soon as I could. And that what I did. I begged to go. I knew that pleased him.

That night he took three of us out there into the fields like he always have. And when he left us for the night, that’s when I knew my daddy was right. The ground was soggy, I was able to free my legs from the stakes and I went to work pulling and pushing the fence posts hoping to get free. I heard a crack and pushed as hard as I could until it broke. I was able to slip the ropes and get free. I went to free the others but they were gone. I guess he took us out but only left me there alone. So I ran. I ran as fast I could until I found a road. Finally a car drove past, actually it was a bus. That bus driver stopped and saved me.

It was my daddy that told me what to do in that soggy ground so that I could get free. He is the reason I’m here today....
